24

In the first episode of the TV series 24, the main character opens the show by saying "this is the longest day of my life." This is exactly how I felt yesterday. I woke up at 2am on Sunday morning and after 17 hours in the air, I finally went to bed at 9pm on Monday night in Japan. Now, it's 6:30 in the morning here, and I'm wide awake, since the time back home is 5:30 at night.

Here are some valuable things I learned during my flight:
-Oz the Great and Powerful is quite a good movie.
-Drug dogs in Japan were not a fan of the maple syrup I brought in my luggage.
-People in Japan drive on the left side of the road, and their cars are configured like those in England.
-DO NOT order the breakfast burrito in San Francisco before an 11 hour international flight.
-The airport where I landed in Osaka is sinking, since it was built on top of a landfill in the middle of the bay, as you can see in this photo that I obviously did not take :)

On a final note:
-I cannot understand why people insist on standing still on the moving walkways at airports. As Jerry Seinfeld says, "it's not an amusement park ride. There are no animated pirates along the way."
